The Real Reason Your Klaviyo Revenue Dropped After a Rebrand

A rebrand is supposed to strengthen a business. When email revenue drops shortly after one, the cause is rarely the new look itself. It’s usually something technical that broke quietly in the transition and never got checked.

Domain changes are the most common cause by far. If the rebrand involved a new domain, even a similar-sounding one, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication are tied to that specific sending domain. A new one hasn’t built up its own sending reputation yet, no matter how established the old domain was, and it can see meaningfully worse deliverability for weeks or months until it earns its own history.

Broken tracking is the second most common, and it’s rarely about the creative. A rebrand often comes with a new website, sometimes a new platform entirely. Tracking snippets, UTM parameters, and Klaviyo’s connection to the storefront can silently break during that transition, meaning flows depending on browsing or purchase data, browse abandonment, post-purchase, may be firing on incomplete or missing data without anyone noticing, since the flow still technically runs.

Template and link mismatches round out the list. New branding usually means new templates, and it’s common for old links, old promo codes, or previous product naming to persist inside flows that never got fully updated as part of the rollout. Easy to miss, because the visual design looks correctly updated while a link or code buried deeper in the email got skipped.

Here’s why this gets misdiagnosed so often. Revenue drops after a rebrand, and the natural read is that customers don’t like the new look, or the messaging shift didn’t land. A technical issue, especially a deliverability hit from a domain change, produces the exact same symptom, declining revenue, without being a creative problem at all.

Before concluding the rebrand itself is the cause, confirm full domain authentication is set up and verified on any new sending domain, and confirm tracking and integration connections are still passing data correctly by checking recent event data in Klaviyo’s analytics.
